$$ IMPORTANT SECRETS on HOW TO SAVE MONEY $$

CUT YOUR GROCERY BILL IN HALF, CHEAPER PRESCRIPTIONS AND MORE!

We know from experience how hard it is to manage our family on a tight budget. We all got together and spent weeks researching how to save the most money locally. So now we want to share with you our secrets to saving hundreds of dollars a month. All you need is an hour preparation time and a computer to start, then an extra half hour before every shopping trip.

First, consult with you practitioner about your diet. Make sure you get the right foods, because that is more important than saving money.

Next you need to go to your computer. Every store has a website that not only offers the coupons you get in your mail, but special offers you can only find online. They have these new coupon programs that take about 5 minutes to install, that allow you to add and print all the coupons you need. You can also view the weekly and monthly mailings and offers. If you print these from each store, along with your coupons, you then use this to make your list. Compare which store has the item cheaper and then sort the lists. I use a coupon organizer I got from Longs for .80 cents and a simple lined note pad. You have to be willing to go to more than one store to save a significant amount of money. Yesterday, I saved $22 by getting half of my list from Times and half from Safeway!

Here are the links you need:

Install coupon printer from Safeway.

Whole foods: Most think whole foods is out of their budget, but you would be surprised to learn they have a generic organic brand called “365” that in some cases is cheaper then some of the Safeway brand items! For instance – 365 Everyday Value® Organic Taco Shells are only $2.69 for 12-ct box. Yellow Corn or Blue Corn which is 80cents cheaper than the Safeway generic! To see the available items and prices go here: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/products/list.php?CID=1

COSTCO-Costco memberships can be as low as $50 a year and sometimes they have a special for $39. You can save on things like, gas, phonebills, photo printing, prescriptions and more. Gas prices at Costco are 25 cents less a gallon than any other gas station around here, a knew membership would be worth it for the gas alone.

One additional benefit to buying in bulk was brought to my attention by Jennae at Green Your Decor. Bulk items use less packaging, and so you’re doing the environment a favor by not buying small packages.

However, there are drawbacks to shopping at warehouse stores. You have to be incredibly disciplined in order to keep your spending within your budget. There are lots of temptations at Costco. Books, clothes, household items, electronics. It helps to have a list of things you need, so if you see a deal you can buy it. But if you don’t need it, don’t buy! A deal isn’t a deal if you don’t need the item! To join online go to: http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePage.aspx?ProductNo=11315018

Farmers Markets

Don’t forget the farmers market. Every Thursday in Kailua from 5-7 is the famers market. Not only is it better to buy local, but some items are significantly cheaper. For instance, you can get a whole bag of garlic for $1.00!

Food Sealers – Best $50 I ever spent. A food sealer not only keeps your food fresher longer, but it allows you to buy in larger quantities without wasting, prepare portions for diets, and prepare meals ahead of time. Also good if you shop at Costco.

Prescriptions: Safeway has a frequent fill card. If you have them stamp you every time you pick up you get $5 off a prescription once your card is full. Also a little know secret is that most pharmacies will match the cost of a prescription and not all pharmacies prices are the same. In fact, some are significantly different. Call around and get the lowest price, then tell your pharmacy. If they aren’t willing to match it, call the District Manager of the pharmacy and they almost always will help you. Also, some drug companies offer special programs that pay for your medicines if you can’t afford them. You can find those programs here: http://www.rxassist.org/

Pets: Another little know fact that the vets wont tell you unless you ask is that they will also match 1-800- PETMEDS. You have to print out the cost from the website, and you have to do it everytime (they don’t make it easy) but this will save you so much money.

How to save money on pet food:

A slow cooker and rice cooker can be used to help save money on pet food. Finding meat that is $1.00-$1.50 a pound, throw in potatoes and rice and veggies (be sure to check my website for veggies that are safe: http://www.myspace.com/goldenretrieverfreedom

Using the web to get FREE STUFF: Manufacturers offer free stuff for answering marketing surveys and signing up for their websites. Create an email just for signing up for these things so you don’t get bombarded by SPAM. Then go to: http://www.bestfreestuffonline.com/ and start applying. You can get free sippy cups, free stockings, jelly bellys and so much more.

We are looking for a few good men and women

ist2_4154279-rejoice-alwaysWell is seems the new year really sparked some exciting new changes for all of us.   Each of us cleansed ourselves wether it was by cleaning out our spaces, to our purses,  our minds, to cleaning out the cancers brought on by negative relationships or influences.  We have been making room for the changes about to happen as we have all collectively been putting out the energy to draw the friends, clients and coworkers we want and need in our lives that whom we can form beneficial and lasting relationships with.   That isn’t easy to do in the economy.  People are scared, people are grumpy and people are in survival mode.

Nevertheless, like speaks to like and I am happy to say that Friends have been flooding in.  And even  in the last few weeks we have welcomed over35 new clients!  As far as the co-worker part, that has seemed to be a bigger challenge then we expected.  But as usual, the universe has a way of sorting these things out.

lotusoptWe have been networking with many of the practitioners to find those who are like minded and who share our vision.  I figured that finding people who were dedicated to wellness, who wanted to start something that benefits their clients in ways they never could before, would be easy to do.   We have been simply looking for people to join our family, help us create something together, be patient,  leave competition at the door and have faith that they will be rewarded by the Universe for their unselfish effort.  In return, we would offer support, love, a purpose, benefits to your clients, referrals, a network of professionals, business and marketing support, support of your practice, something to take pride in, a way to help people in more ways, stability, fun, and a learning experience.  Sounds perfect right?  If this sounds appealing to you, then by all means, call us now!  We need you!rightyinyang

But  we have had trouble.  With every Ying there is a Yang, so of course with every good intention, someone is bound to come along with bad ones.  We have found ourselves having to differentiate from the people who are serious from those who just see this as a source for bettering themselves or for free support and referrals to better their own practices.  Unfortunately, we weren’t prepared for it, and it set us back a bit at first.  But now that we feel more prepared and know the signs, I feel confident we can move forward with no fear.   Because, This can’t work without a collaborative effort from serious people with loving, unselfish and supportive agendas.   I am sure not saying you shouldn’t  benefit from what we have to offer, I am simply saying that the benefit is building it together and it comes FROM helping eachother as a team. I am simply saying that when the priority is your clients and the movement, the rest will follow.  And as we learn from the wrong people, we are steps closer to the right.  When one door closes another opens.  In fact, as we parted ways with one friend with love, we welcomed 2 more who were exactly what we needed!

So, it never stops amazing me at how the universe works.  We are all seeing big improvements in our clinics, with our patients health and mental states, and of course in our own lives.  I can’t wait to see what happend next!!

Do you live well?

19 Feb

Windward for Wellness is a movement.  Some might say it is a phenomena..something that happened spontaneously ….a shift in consciousness, attitude, and practical thinking.  It is about thinking of others as you would think for yourself and applying it.  Ultimately though, it is an answer to a problem we are all faced with.  And that is “How do I afford to live well.”

How many of you can honestly say you live well?  If your answer is yes, then congratulations on your personal triumph!  The movement needs people like you because for each one of  you who answered yes  there are ten more still  trying to answer that question for themselves.  And they are isolated when they don’t have to be.

FEBRUARY is “How do you afford Wellness?” Month

From a client of Iseri Wellness:

I have osteoarthritis in both knees, including bony spurs and fluid in the meniscus in my left knee. The only solution I was given by the surgeon I was sent to by my doctor was total knee replacement. I opted for accupuncture treeatment by my daughter, Shereen Saiki, and later by her colleague from mainland China, Fang Cai, both of whom are licensed accupuncturists. They have helped me avoid surgery. However, with hardly any cartilage in both knees, I cannot walk long distances without pain in both of them. A wheelchair is cumbersome, takes up too much space in elevators, costs too much, and is very limited in what areas it can readily maneuver. I have found the perfect answer to this dilemma: Kent Ultra Light Magnesium Alloy Folding Bicycle from China. It has 16″ wheels and weighs a mere 23 pounds. Folded dimensions are 27″x24″x15″. No polishing is necessary because the alloy never rusts.

I keep it folded in a small space in one corner of my apartment. I then exit on the ground floor, unfold my bike and ride to the supermarket. There I fold my bike, put it in the store shopping cart and use the cart to brace myself as I walk around and shop. Once a week I use my Son’s car to drive my wife and me from Kukui Plaza, our condo, to Castle Professional Center. Once there, I drop my wife off at the entrance ot the building and find free curbside parking, take my folding bike out of the car trunk, unfold it, and ride back to Iseri Wellness, my daughter’s clinic in the center. Of course, I fold my bike, take the elevator to her floor, unfold it and wheel it to her clinic, fold it completely and put it next to one of the chairs in the waiting area.
Because I have a note signed by my physician, Dr. Eugene Lee, I can ride my bike to any area in downtown Honolulu, including the Fort Street and Union malls, and Chinatown. Other places I use my bike are Ala Moana Hotel, the Federal Building,, funeral parlors, open markets, and doctors’ and dentists’ offices. There is absolutely no pain or pressure on my knees when I peddle my bike around. And, in fact, because my thigh muscles get stronger every time I pedal my bike around, I feel less pain in my knees whenever I have to walk. Some mornings when I feel well-rested, for one to several hours, I may feel no pain at all and can walk normally.

If you have my medical condition, avoid surgery by using a good folding bike and have a TCM specialist help you mainain your health. Howard T. Saiki, retired Japanese Language Teacher

GRAND RE-OPENING!

14 Nov

Aloha and welcome to new beginnings at Iseri Wellness. For existing clients you are probably wondering why the GRAND OPENING? Well, we have made some exciting new changes for one. And being that when we first opened, we never had a grand opening we thought, WHY NOT? We also wanted to introduce ourselves to new friends, let them know we are here, and that we have a lot to offer. When we decided to make these changes, we decided to start with the environment. As you know, your environment plays a major role in not only your mental well being but your physical one as well. Using Feng Shui, we turned each treatment room into a theme room. We started with the small room which is now known as the “Zen” room. It is painted lavender, which is the color known to repair the heart. We added an antique Japanese cabinet, water fountain, and changed the layout. Next we made the middle room the Jade room. This room is painted jade green, which is encourages practicality, wisdom, mental peace and tolerance of others. It is also known to increase a person’s capacity for giving and receiving love. The last room is painted rose to generate healing. It is known as the elements room and incorporates the elements of fire, water, metal, wood, stone and air. The waiting area has also been redesigned and now has new art, waiting room chairs and furniture. In keeping with one of the concepts of wellness to “have a welcoming space for you and others to feel comfortable.
We also have brought on Brian S. Tow, massage therapist. Brian shares the same concept for Iseri Wellness as we do, and he is just as dedicated to your overall health and wellness goals as we are. Finally, we have finally begun to get involved with local events and are hosting monthly meetups to help educate the public on our services as well as discuss your wellness goals. We will be sending out mailers and invitations for events and will also be distributing educational materials and newsletters around town. If you want to join our efforts and have a place to set out our materials, please let is know. Thank you all for your loyalty and support through this transition, and for you new friends, Aloha & Welcome to the new Iseri Wellness!
